the artist

THOMAS BERTRAND

During the last 15 years, I have been living my aesthetic dreams inspired by Japanese Buddhist teachings. This philosophy speaks of the engagement, conviction and patience needed to succeed in creating something solid and wonderful. This is my vision. A sincere, intuitive painting style focused on personal development leading to the creation of beauty, through the astonishment it provokes.

Surely all art is the result of one’s having been in danger, of  having gone through an experience all the way to the end, to where no one can go any further. Life becomes cleaner, more personal and unique the further we go.
— Rainer Maria Rilke

MY IDEA

accessible painting

It is the painter’s dream to progress with perseverance, patience and enthusiasm towards what he senses to be the future, one of displaying more respect and consideration to others.
My vision is that each piece of artwork becomes its own symbol of human dignity and the extraordinary potential individuals display when they rise and unite towards a common goal of peace and advancement. The ideal expressed in my paintings is to represent the desire for beauty and goodness. They reflect our inner person and compel us to examine our role in this collective fate.
